BIOGRAPHY

Jillian McCabe is a senior at Indiana University, where she is earning a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance and a B.A. in Criminal Justice. Her dual academic focus reflects her dedication to both artistic expression and social justice, creating a unique perspective that informs her work as an artist. Throughout her time at IU, Jillian has learned and performed the works of renowned choreographers such as Camille A. Brown, Robert Burden, Iris Rosa, and Justin Sears-Watson. She has showcased these pieces in performances, including New Moves/New Directions, Journeys of Joy, Earthward, Cultural Immersion, and Reconstructed/Reframed, with the IU Contemporary Dance program. Additionally, she performed in Enigma, produced by Natalie Clevenger, a member of the Limón Dance Company. Her choreographic skills were showcased in the 2023 Junior Choreographic Performance Project.
Jillian’s training extends globally, having spent a total of ten weeks with DanceItalia in Italy, where she worked closely with the organization’s founder, Stephanie Nelson. As both a student and faculty assistant, she gained invaluable international exposure, expanding her technique and deepening her understanding of contemporary dance working with people and companies like Komocodance, Maya Orchin, Alex Clair, Stephano De Luca, and Jamal Kamau White. This experience, combined with her rigorous academic and performance schedule, has solidified Jillian’s reputation as a well-rounded dancer, passionate about societal change through dance and law. Jillian also has experience as a teacher and choreographer. She has taught at studios such as The Dance Refinery in Indianapolis, IN, and Matt Blevins Dance, nurturing the next generation of dancers.
